Terms of Service

1. Agreement
These Terms govern your use of Kluno's website, dashboard, and API (the "Service"), operated by Kluno ("we", "us"). By creating an account, verifying an email through the demo widget, or calling the API, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.
2. What Kluno does
Kluno checks whether an email address is likely to be able to receive mail, and returns a status such as valid, invalid, catch-all, or unknown. We aim to be honest rather than optimistic: "unknown" is a real, meaningful answer when a mailbox truly can't be confirmed, not a disguised guess. No verification service — including ours — can guarantee 100% accuracy, because the final answer depends on how a third-party mail server chooses to respond at the moment of the check.
3. Accounts and API keys
- You're responsible for keeping your login credentials and API key confidential.
- You're responsible for all activity performed under your account or API key, whether or not you personally performed it.
- If you believe your API key has been exposed or compromised, contact us so we can rotate it.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the Service to:
- Verify email lists you do not have a lawful basis to process (see Section 7 below).
- Attempt to circumvent rate limits, credit limits, or access controls.
- Reverse-engineer, scrape, or resell the Service as your own product without a separate written agreement.
- Use the Service to facilitate spam, harassment, fraud, or any illegal activity.
5. Credits and plans
Access to the API and dashboard is governed by the plan and credit limits associated with your account. We may change plan limits, pricing, or features with reasonable notice. Unused credits do not imply any cash value or refund entitlement unless stated otherwise at time of purchase.
6. No guarantee of accuracy
Email verification reflects a best-effort technical check against the receiving mail server at a single point in time. Results can change (a mailbox that was valid yesterday may bounce tomorrow, and vice versa). We do not guarantee deliverability, inbox placement, or that a "valid" result will never bounce. You remain responsible for how you use verification results, including compliance with anti-spam laws (e.g. CAN-SPAM, CASL, GDPR) in your own sending.
7. Your data, your responsibility
If you submit contact lists belonging to your own clients or leads, you confirm you have a lawful basis to process those contacts. We act as a processor of the addresses you submit — see our Privacy Policy for how long we retain verification data and how it's handled.
8. Service availability
We aim to keep the Service available and performant, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted access. Scheduled maintenance, third-party mail server behavior, and factors outside our control (e.g. a receiving provider throttling verification traffic) can affect response times or temporarily reduce accuracy on some domains. We'll do our best to communicate meaningful outages.
9. Limitation of liability
The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Kluno is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, including damages resulting from inaccurate verification results, service interruptions, or actions you take based on verification output.
10. Termination
You may stop using the Service and close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, abuse rate limits, or pose a security risk to the Service or other users.
11. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
